5 REASONS TO HIRE AN INTERIOR DESIGNER FOR YOUR NEXT PROJECT

Hiring an Interior Designer can often be seen as an expensive thing to do. And yes in some ways it is, we do have to charge for our services.

As much as we love what we do and we want to help people achieve their vision, we can't do it for free !

Design takes time, research, knowledge and it takes (a lot of) planning.

1 | Hiring an Interior Designer will SAVE YOU MONEY in the long run. We plan projects based on quality, timescale and budget.

A key element of our service is to help you stick to your budget, we will often aim to source materials that are cheaper than you can get on the High Street. Interior Design fees are set mostly on a 'Fixed Fee' basis after an initial no obligation meeting.

This allows you to budget accordingly.

If we take care of the procurement for you as designers, we are able to establish trade accounts with manufacturers and stores that give them anywhere from a nominal discount to true wholesale pricing. It is always our goal to share a portion of the discount we get with our clients. We’re in business, of course, and we have a lots of paperwork, taxes, accounting, coordinating, and liability related to purchasing, so we can’t pass along all of it. But as much as humanly possible, we want to make purchasing through us a win-win for our clients. That usually means discounts of at least 10% on designer merchandise!

10% may not sound like a ton of savings, but look at it like this… suppose your designer’s fee for a room was around £1,500, and you were going to buy £15,000 worth of furniture and fittings for it. If the ID saved you 10%, that would mean £1,500 in savings on that merchandise. Your savings completely offsets the designer’s fee! It’s a no-brainer!

2 | Hiring an Interior Designer will SAVE YOU TIME. Projects involve lots to planning. A good ID will always ask what timescale you are working to. If you have a new lease on a commercial property you want to be doing as much work before you take possession as possible so that you can maximise the time you are in there. For your home you want to be able to plan how long you will have disruption for in your family life. Even if you know exactly what you want, it takes an enormous amount of time to research and source everything you need to complete the project. We take on all this for you, so you don’t have to

Interior designers truly save you a LOT of time. How did we find that one Pinterest-perfect vintage rug? How did we decide on 2 countertop and 3 tile options for a meeting? By contacting every supplier known to man! (ok, not really, but really. It feels like it). We check lead times, stock, pricing, measurements, finish options, durability...all things that you may or may not have thought about, while at the same time figuring out what would look right for your space too. Design is about a thousand details behind the scenes that take a lot of time. Time you can spend with your family, or on your own career, or doing the things that you love. It’s our passion to obsess over these things, so that you don’t have to.

3 | Hiring and Interior Designer will INVIGORATE YOUR SENSES. We provide ideas and make suggestions that perhaps you have never thought of before. Drawing on years of experience we can make suggestions that can help you in your business or in your home that will benefit you. We know that customers want to be able to see themselves properly in a fitting room for example so we only ever propose lighting that provides a true colour rendering of the item they are trying on. Or even in your family home we know that you need to maximise storage so we will bring ideas to you that perhaps you have never thought of.

Not everyone has the same budget, we are experts at working within yours. We know what pieces are worth devoting more of the budget to (like a sofa) and which pieces can be less expensive (like a side table) if needed. We know how to incorporate the “saves” with the “splurges” to achieve an overall high-end, high-impact look. Some things should be extravagant and expensive. But not everything has to be. A good designer knows where to spend and where to cut back, smartly, to save you money.

4 | Hiring an Interior Designer CREATES SPACE. Space planning is at the root of all projects. We work to maximise the floor print area available. Each project is unique and has its own challenges. What might work in one property won't necessarily work in another. With years of experience we can judge just walking into a space what sort of layout is best. Working with you to understand your needs about what you want from a space is very important.

5 | Hiring an Interior Designer ADDS VALUE. Having a well-designed retail store or workplace adds value to you as a brand. Customers will want to be there, will return. And when it comes to selling your home a well presented, home will always be worth more.

In projects we have the Triangle of constraint. For a successful project you need all 3 aspects to be considered. If you try to remove one the project won't be a success.

The Basic Principles of the Scope Triangle. ... Time is the available time to deliver the project, cost represents the amount of money or resources available and quality represents the fit-to-purpose that the project must achieve to be a success.
